Analysis on the effect of the tuberculosis control project in Feshan City(1992-2001)

Abstract: Objective To analyze the effect of the TB control project in Feshan City.Methods Collecting and analyzing the data of the tuberculosis control project loaned by the world bank in Feshan City from 1992 to 2001.Results there were 40470 suspects examined and 8652 cases with active tuberculosis discovered. In the cases, there were 5005 pulmonary tuberculosis with smear-positive, 4320 new cases with smear-positive, and 685 retreatment cases with smear-positive. The notification rate of new smear-positive cases is 7.47/100000 in 1993, up to 30.30/100000 in 2001. The cured rate of initial treatment cases rises to 99.4% from 73.5% from 1993 to 2001. And the retreatment smear-positive cases rises to 91.4% from 60.8% from 1993 to 2001.Conclusion In the decade, The TB control project in Feshan City has achieved the target of “high rate of discovery” and “high rate of successful treatment” and has improved. It is because that free examination was provided the case-management was converged and the strategy of DOTS was implemented. It is a good experience for new project implementing in Guangdong province. Develop the work of TB control in Feshan City.
