Abstract: Objective To probe the quality control in acid fast stain test of sputum smear. Methods First, quality standards of sputum specimen were worked out to ensure specimen quality. Second, to enhance the quality inspection in sputum smear and put encouragement and punishment into practice. Third, re check regulations to sputum smears after microscopic in spection were formed to ensure the quality of lab report. Fourth, Results of quality control were come out with tabulation to lead to competitive environment. Finally, study on operation rules was reinforced in order to improve quality concepts among laboratory staffs. Results The quality control Results form 1995～2000 showed that these measures were feasible and effective remarkably. Conclusion It is essential that quality control measures be performed in acid fast stain test of sputum smear to improve detective result. Furthermore, these measures must be improved and perfected constantly because the search is far from consummate.
