The clinical analysis on 53 cases with intracranial tuberculoma

Abstract: Objective To investigate the clinical features of intracranial tuberculoma and its therapeutic effect of antituberculosis drugs. Method A total of 53 cases with intracranial tuberculoma were reviewed.All of them were received 18~24 months anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy and followed-up for 6 to 24 months after of treatment completion. Results MRI in detection of intracranial tuberculomas was superior to CT.The misdiagnostic rate was 77.4%,the death rate was 5.7% and the cure rate 84.9% in 53 cases.None of them relapsed during follow up. Conclusion The intracranial tuberculoma should be recognized at the early stage.The therapeutic Results and its prognosis are excellent when anti-tuberculosis chemotherapy is given in the early phase of disease.
