Abstract: Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of identification of pulmonary tuberculosis from different population. Methods Target population was classified into pulmonary tuberculosis suspect group and other three groups. Identification rate of pulmonary tuberculosis and its cost-effectiveness were analyzed. Results In the suspect group, the identification rate of active pulmonary tuberculosis is 3590.09/10000, and the rate of pulmonary tuberculosis with smear positive is 1159.1/10000. Both are more than the identification rates of other three groups (P<0.001).The cost for identification 1 active pulmonary tuberculosis case and 1 smear positive case was 103.3 yuan and 319.2 yuan Respectively. Both of the cost was less than that of other three groups. Conclusion In the case of limited resources, the best way for detecting tuberculosis case is that identify the cases from the suspects who making clinical consultation.
